Registration Procedure

Thank you for your interest in the TESL ( Teaching English As A Second Language ) Certificate Program at Benns Educational Services. If you wish to apply please read the following procedure.

REGISTRATION CONDITION

1.  By registering, a student agrees to be bound by the regulations of the School.
    

2. Each student is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the information submitted for any changes to that information.
    

3. Failure to make payment by the published deadline will result in the withholding of future services by the School and may also result in the termination of the person’s status as a student. A student may not receive grades or transcripts, and is not eligible for graduation or re-registration until all outstanding accounts have been cleared with the School Office.
    

4. Students may only attend classes for which they are registered. Any student changing or withdrawing from a class must advise in writing. Failure to do this will result in ABF grades (absent fail) and responsibility for assessed fees.
    

5. Refunds or withdrawals are based on the date that the advice is received by the Registrar’s Office.

Non payment of fees and non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal from the Program.

6. To avoid penalties read your TESL Information Guide for information regarding registration, program and section changes, fee assessment, payment and refunds.
    

7. Upon graduation, you will receive a Benns TESL Diploma. Please note that you must apply directly to TESL Ontario, TESL Canada and TESL International for their individual memberships and/or teaching certificates.

q                  The completed TESL  Registration Form. 

q                  For TESL Ontario Certificate, please check their website www.teslontario.org. 

q                English Proficiency Requirements. Only applicants whose first language is not English and who have not studied English full-time in an English language School system (one which is located in a country whose first language is English) for at least four years must present  evidence of proficiency in oral and written English through a standard test such as TOEFL (250 computer score or 550 paper-based score, along with the TWE score of 5 and a TSE score of 60),  IELTS (7 overall), MELAB, Can TEST, YELT, COPE or CAELS (Band 80 overall, with a minimum of 70 in each of the writing and speaking subtests).  For further information on the MELAB language proficiency test, please call (416) 946 3942.  Your language proficiency test results may be submitted during or at the end of the TESL program.

Upon receipt of all documentation, confirmation will be given to you immediately.  You do not have to wait until you receive your language proficiency score; this test can be submitted after you complete the TESL program.

The fee charged for canceling your registration in the program will be calculated according to the following scale, for all day, and distance education programs.
